3D carving methods and techniques for woodworking engraving machines

When processing relief, engraving machines often use 3D engraving, so that the effect is more artistic and has a strong 3D sense of three-dimensionality. This function is mainly achieved when planning the tool path and selecting the tool. When planning the tool path, choose to automatically generate a carving program with varying depths and use a sharp knife to complete it. However, sometimes the area between the two lines of the pattern is relatively large or the strokes are relatively thick, which will not be processed, resulting in the so-called “island”. This requires that the stacking rate should be appropriately increased when making the path.

The engraving software of the wood carving machine mainly has two processing methods for “island”: island processing and continuous engraving method.

The so-called island processing is to use the milling method to process some of the unprocessed areas mentioned above. When clearing the milling bottom, its “stack percentage” should be defined.

The continuous engraving method refers to treating the area milled as a plane as the initial plane and continuing three-dimensional processing. In this way, the actual carving depth may be greater than the planned depth, but it cannot exceed the height of the blade plus the handle. The angle picking interval can be appropriately modified during processing. The angle picking interval is a three-dimensional angle clearing processing parameter. When processing larger objects or using thicker tools, the angle picking interval can be increased accordingly. Under normal circumstances, it is recommended to use the default value of 0.1 mm. If the angle picking interval is too small, it may cause too many angle picking times, affecting the actual processing effect of the woodworking engraving machine.
