Marine Plywood
Marine plywood is defined as produced in accordance with the BS1088 international standard for marine plywood. It uses Taier waterproof glue (phenolic glue), which is environmentally friendly and reaches E0/E1 level. It will not debond after boiling in boiling water for 72 hours. Marine plywood is generally used for yachts, car boxes, ships, and outdoor wooden buildings. It is also called “waterproof plywood” and “marine plywood”.

Marine grade plywood is generally used for yachts, car boxes, ships, and outdoor wooden buildings. It is also called “waterproof plywood” and “marine plywood”.
Waterproof Water Resistant Plywood requires the use of very good logs, which are sawn into the required length and peeled of bark. Peeling or slicing, drying, repairing, and then applying glue (cold pressing) and hot pressing. After hot pressing, it is repaired again, sawed, and inspected to become a finished product.
Features and specifications of Marine Plywood:
The core of marine plywood is made of beech, Eucalyptus Core Marine Plywood, pine, Full Birch Plywood, poplar, miscellaneous wood, mixed core, etc.; the skin is divided into several categories such as ice candy, okoume, miscellaneous wood, pine, birch, etc., and the skin grade is: BB/CC, BB/BB, etc.
The conventional sizes of marine plywood are 1220×2440, 1220×2810, 1220×3035, 1220×3050, 1220×3660, and the thickness is 3-35mm.
Marine grade plywood has good water resistance, high density, and good load-bearing capacity, which makes up for some of the defects of natural wood.
Applications of Marine Plywood:
Marine plywood (also known as marine board, BS 1088 standard plywood) is a special type of plywood with high water resistance and high bonding strength. It is primarily used in shipbuilding and high-humidity/outdoor environments, and is now being extended to some high-end indoor damp areas.
1. Traditional Core Uses: Deck, bulkheads, interior finishes, and structural components in the shipbuilding industry (such as yachts, fishing boats, and workboats), requiring compliance with the BS 1088 standard of not delaminating after boiling in water for 72 hours.
2. Transportation and Engineering: Marine plywood is used in mobile or outdoor structures requiring moisture resistance and deformation resistance, such as carriages, RVs, container interiors, port facilities, stage scaffolding, and converted campervans.
3. Architectural and Landscape Applications: Marine plywood is used in outdoor wooden buildings, seaside terraces, flower boxes, pergolas, and other scenarios where long-term exposure to damp or salt spray environments is required.
4. Modern extended applications: Kitchen, bathroom, and shower cabinet base materials in coastal areas, or for health and wellness, and maternal and infant spaces with high requirements for environmental protection (ENF grade) and moisture resistance (National Standard Class I);
5. Marine Plywood is used in high-end outdoor furniture, speaker cabinets, and musical instrument components.
