The difference between particleboard and MDF board

Particle board and MDF board are commonly used board materials in our home decoration. They are widely used in our homes. So what is the difference between particle board and density board?
1. Different materials
(1) MDF board The wardrobe boards on the market are mainly made of artificial boards, and very few are made of solid wood. Artificial boards are divided into plywood, particle board (particle board), fiberboard, and solid wood multilayer board. Among them, fiberboard is divided into high density, medium density, and low density.
It is composed of wood fiber or other plant fiber powder, fiber preparation, synthetic resin, and pressed under heating and pressure conditions. It is easy to expand when it comes into contact with water. Therefore, it cannot be used to make cabinets. Because it has poor nail-holding properties, good quality manufacturers do not use density boards to make cabinets.
(2) OSB board is made of wood or other wood cellulose materials. After applying adhesive, it is glued together under heat and pressure to form an artificial board, also known as particle board. It retains more of the natural structure of wood, and its expansion rate when soaked in water is 8%-10% and it has good nail-holding properties. Therefore, from the current situation, it is the most suitable for cabinets and is mainly used in furniture manufacturing, construction industry, and train and car carriage manufacturing.
MDF board is mainly used for laminate flooring, door panels, partitions, furniture, etc. In home decoration, it is mainly used for surface treatment of mixed oil process, not suitable for cabinets. Particleboard can be painted and various veneers, and can also be used as cabinets.
Chipboard is mainly used in furniture, construction industry, and train and car carriage manufacturing. It has better sound absorption and sound insulation, smooth surface, small thickness error, pollution resistance, aging resistance, and can be painted and various veneers.
3. Different scope of application
MDF boards are widely used to replace wood processing flower lines and carving products due to their uniform and delicate internal structure, while particleboard is widely used in the panel furniture industry due to its difficulty in bending and deformation, high strength-to-weight ratio, good nail holding power, and low formaldehyde content.
4. Different environmental protection coefficients
Since a large amount of glue is used in the production process of MDF sheet, if the quality of the glue is not up to standard, it is likely to cause excessive formaldehyde in the density board, while the environmental protection coefficient of particle board is much higher.
5. Different nail holding force
MDF panels are composed of powder, which is easy to swell when exposed to water and has poor nail holding properties. Particle board has the characteristics of wood and has a certain nail holding force. It can usually be repeated about 10 times.
Applicable scenarios
Particle board: widely used in panel furniture cabinets, building partitions and other fields that require load-bearing and moisture-proof.
‌MAT: mostly used in laminate flooring, decorative lines, carved furniture parts (such as European door panels) and other scenes that require high surface flatness. ‌
