Basswood Plywood is well-machined and easily worked with hand tools, making it an excellent carving material. It holds well with nails, screws, and glue. Sanding, staining, and polishing produce a smooth surface. It dries relatively quickly, with minimal deformation and aging. Although it shrinks significantly during drying, it exhibits good dimensional stability.

Basswood Plywood is used as a furniture material. It is yellowish-white, slightly soft, with a straight grain, a slightly fine structure, a silky luster, and a soft feel. The wood performs well in sawing, turning, drilling, mortising, nailing, gluing, painting, and staining. The trunk is straight and upright, resulting in a high yield. The wood has a lighter color and larger voids, making it easy to dye or bleach. It has low shrinkage, remains firm and does not deform or crack after drying, and has moderate hardness, making it suitable for furniture production in northern China.
