Moisture Resistant MDF
Moisture Resistant MDF, also known as moisture-resistant fiberboard, is an improved product of fiberboard. Moisture Resistant MDF is mainly made of wood fiber, such as bamboo, pine, etc., and is formed by high temperature and high pressure. Compared with ordinary density boards, moisture-resistant MDF are more sophisticated in the selection of raw materials and production processes, so they have better moisture resistance, mildew resistance and insect resistance.
Description
Moisture Resistant MDF, also known as moisture-resistant fiberboard or Waterproof MDF, is an improved product of fiberboard. Moisture Resistant MDF is mainly made of wood fiber, such as bamboo, pine, etc., and is formed by high temperature and high pressure.
Compared with ordinary density boards, moisture-resistant MDF are more sophisticated in the selection of raw materials and production processes, so they have better moisture resistance, mildew resistance and insect resistance.
Features of Moisture Resistant MDF:
1. Moisture resistance: The density of Moisture Resistant MDF is high, the internal arrangement of the boards is tight, and the water absorption rate is low, which can well resist the erosion of the boards by humid environments, thereby improving the service life of furniture, interior decoration and building materials.
2. Mildew resistance: The surface of Moisture Resistant MDF is sprayed with mildew inhibitors, and it is not easy to mold in humid environments.
3. Insect resistance: The density of Moisture Resistant MDF is high and it is not easy to be eaten by insects.
Applications of Moisture Resistant MDF:
Moisture Resistant MDF (medium-density fiberboard) reduces its thickness expansion rate due to the addition of paraffin wax or waterproof resin. It is primarily suitable for indoor furniture and decorative substrates in high-humidity environments, but prolonged direct contact with liquid water is strictly prohibited.
1. Kitchen and Bathroom Cabinets and Doors: Moisture Resistant MDF is used for kitchen cabinets, sink cabinets (requiring perfect edge banding), bathroom storage cabinets, and shower cabinet doors. It resists daily moisture erosion and avoids the moisture absorption, expansion, and deformation common in ordinary MDF.
2. Custom Furniture in High-Humidity Areas: Moisture Resistant MDF is suitable for spaces with relatively high humidity (65%-85%), such as balcony cabinets and laundry cabinets, as a shelf or cabinet structural material.
3. Complex Decorative Designs: Utilizing the smooth and easily milled surface of Moisture Resistant MDF, it can be used to create European and country-style moisture-proof background walls, wall panels, and sound-absorbing panels. It is particularly suitable for wall decorations requiring intricate carving in humid environments.
4. Commercial and Public Spaces: Moisture Resistant MDF is used for moisture-proof partitions, display props, and public decoration environments near the sea in hotels, shopping malls, and other public places (high moisture-proof ratings such as HMR type are required).
5. Strict Edge Sealing is Essential: The moisture-proof performance of Moisture Resistant MDF is highly dependent on the six-sided edge sealing process. If cuts or holes are exposed, the fibers will still absorb water like a sponge, leading to irreversible damage.
6. Non-Waterproof Boards: Moisture Resistant MDF is only moisture-resistant and cannot be used in outdoor open-air environments or areas where water may accumulate for extended periods (such as direct water spray areas inside shower rooms), otherwise it will still fail.
